/Cynicism/: An attitude characterized by a general distrust of the motives of others. A general lack of faith or hope in people motivated by ambition, desire, greed, gratification, materialism, goals, and opinions perceived as vain, unobtainable, or ultimately meaningless.

As we come fresh out of college, we are eager to prove ourselves — and everyone around us — that we are ready to attack life, no matter what it will throw at us and without a shadow of a doubt we know: We will prevail.

Like thousand others, we go out to hunt for a job… well, not only “a job” we are looking for “THE job”, the one that will allow us to shine like the bright stars that we are, just like mommy told us.

We are confident that someone will quickly pick up on our potential and that we will be well on our way to a brilliant career so, case closed… or is it?

We did land a job, not “THE” job we were expecting but well, at least it is a step in the right direction to start cutting the cord with our parents and try for once our own wings.

We were both surprised and disappointed to know that at work, no one really asks (or cares) about our previous performance or achievements during our studies; by now that is ancient history, and we should focus on what is ahead of us…
